Message from the DTAC Chairman

The District 20 Conference 2013 will be held in Dubai and this is a wonderful occasion for Toastmasters in the UAE to showcase their skills in organizing. As the District Chair, I am immensely proud that we were conferred upon with this opportunity.

It is the fourth time that Dubai has been granted this status and fifth in the UAE. The previous conferences held in 1999, 2003, 2006 (all in Dubai) and 2009 (in Abu Dhabi) were a class of their own and this time, we are leaving no stones unturned.

The conference is coming to Dubai after a gap of six years. Dubai, which is also termed as “Do-Buy” has a tradition of its own – making its mark as the financial, trading and shopping hub of the Middle East. This is one of those places that tourists love to visit – shopping festival, summer shopping, Gitex, conferences etc., happening all through the year. The city has grown in its splendor during the last decade and the weather has increasingly become quite comfortable. The introduction of the metro during September 2009 is a welcome sight to many residents and is one of the factors which has led to the success of this country.

District Toastmasters Conference 2013 has a lot in store for its delegates. Keeping the legacy in mind and with all the experience, we wish to make this event a memorable one which delegates would remember for a long time. The support of the District team has been fabulous. Plans have been laid out for the three day conference to be held at the Intercontinental Festival City, Dubai and we expect at least 700 delegates during this event.

Our motto is to cater to the interests of every delegate and hope that everyone will eventually return satisfied. The venue is beautiful, the organization team is in place, the agenda is being worked out and very soon, we plan to open the registration for this event. We are also fortunate enough to have the Dubai Economic Department supporting us as patrons. The highlight of the event would be the presence of an International Officer who will take time out to deliver a Key note Address as well as meet Corporates and mingle with the delegates during the Gala Dinner. Host of education sessions, contests for children and contests in Arabic & English for the best of best speakers in the District are highlights of the event.

All we need now is your proactive approach. Register for this great conference – do not procrastinate and regret. Be here on the 9th, 10th and 11th May 2013 to enjoy, share your experience, network with delegates and above all satisfy your hunger for information, knowledge and not to forget shopping!!
